Although The Old Treehouse proposes to sell gifts for mothers and mothers-to-be, this will be very much a sideline. Essentially The Old Treehouse is a children's store (with a little bit more) where play and dressing up combine to delight, enchant and inspire.

Play is an essential part of growing up. Through play children learn about the world around them. Whether playing alone or with others, quietly or with enthusiasm, play is the way children explore their world and create imaginary ones. Research shows that through play children learn how to plan and solve problems. Play encourages language and communication skills and to use imagination and creativity. Physical play helps them to develop agility, balance, co-ordination and fine motor skills.

A Treehouse is a place designed for children to play uninhibited by adult intrusion. With roots planted firmly in mother earth, the tree represents the natural beauty, strength and growth. The house within the tree is a safe and exciting place where children can let their imagination run free.

As noted above, the intention is that my shop will sell only quality products, finely crafted from natural material wherever possible. The toys, clothes and sundry products available within the store will be synonymous with this image. The Old Treehouse is therefore the perfect name for this venture.
