From small acorns...
Like many people, Gráinne and the staff at The Old Treehouse are troubled by the increasingly disposable culture of our mainstream modern society and frequent feelings that high standards of customer service are a thing of the past.  Gráinne’s sense of how unsatisfactory mass-produced plastic products are was heightened following the birth of her first child in 2001. During a trip to Paris that same year she was struck by the beauty, style and substance of many European toys. She was reminded of the importance of good quality and of doing things properly. This is part of the legacy she hopes to leave her children and what better time to introduce them to the beauty of well crafted items than when they are young? Gráinne felt so passionate in her desire to lead by example, that she overcame her fears about starting a new business and, with the support of her family and friends, The Old Treehouse was born. Since then the store has been nourished by the hearts, minds and energies of some truly wonderful members of staff, who continue to pour love into the mix.

Our Simple Vision!
We only stock products that we would be happy for our children to own, with a preference for ‘the traditional’ and natural materials wherever possible. Our aim is that the quality of both the products and service at The Old Treehouse should be second to none, and not cost the Earth. To delight, enchant and inspire... it’s as simple as that!

What’s in a name?
The ethos of the store is reflected in its name: The Old Treehouse.

Treehouses are places designed for children to play uninhibited by adult intrusion. With roots planted firmly in mother earth, the tree represents natural beauty, strength and growth. The house within the tree is a safe and exciting place where children can let their imagination run free. Play is an essential part of growing up. Through play children learn about the world around them. Whether playing alone or with others, quietly or with enthusiasm, play is the way children explore their world and create imaginary ones. The toys, clothes and sundry products available within our store are in tune with this image.

Monday to Saturday- 9.30am-5.00pm

Sunday- 10.30am-4.30pm

Bank Holidays- 11.00am-5.00pm (We are open most bank holidays, if in doubt just give us a call)

Closed- Christmas Day & New Years Day.
